Funny how fast we go from peak color to naked tree.
If your life is busy it happens in a few seconds.
We had a majestic display of color this year but...
I kind of like this stage too.
This is the Fox River near Silver Lake Wisconsin

This river feeds into Silver Lake and then southward to
The Chain of Lakes In Illinois
There is a nice trail around the lake and next to the river.

I love the sound and smell of this picture

The Truth

Honest Mom, really, honest...
I didn't mean to do it!

I was really happy to capture the perfect sunset in my little hamlet.
Its a simple community, but a nice place to live.
We have a few little lakes and nice open areas with walking trails.
It's good for me!

This weekend is going to be cold!! In the 40's during the day and uh oh... at night.

The Barn

Not all the barns in the neighborhood are falling down.

I love these old country roads.
Keep in mind, I am 40 miles from a huge city.
Less that an hour from Chicago.
This is such a treat.
I love living up here.
I will never return to urban life!

A Sunday Drive

Here are a few products of my Sunday drive.
It was a beautiful day in the high 60's.

Just north of me and a stones throw south of the Wisconsin border is Route 173.
An east/west road that is a delight this time of year.
There are apples to pick.
One farm after another. Jams and Jellies, Pies and Cookies.

Then on the way home.
I stopped near the river.

And then to visit an open area in my little subdivision.

Half moon

Turn around the other way and almost sunset.

Settling in now with a plate of spaghetti and meat balls.
Tuning up to watch Revenge.

Bye Bye Rain

It's been a pretty wet week.
Not that we didn't need it.
The rivers and lakes are down significantly.
But the weekend will be SUNNY!

After a long rainy day.
Finally the blue popped through!

You can scratch my little grey head and
kiss my little wet nose...
but, don't touch the belly
You can admire the belly
Talk about how beautiful is the belly
But... no touching

I'm loving Autumn this year!
These are a few shots taken nearby.

The colors were quite special this year.

The leaves are coming down fast now.
Supposed to rain all weekend... Phooey!

Just Plain Fun

This is what happens
when you leave your sun roof open where I work.

Nothing like a little naughtiness to rock your day!

Monday, October 8, 2012

I took a quick stop at a nearby Forest Preserve.
Planned a little sunset drive.
I'm a sucker for old dead trees. Liked the effect of the sunset.

Harvest is done. Down with the Sun.

My Friend

Here's my Pie sitting on my lap... such a comfort!
You feeling okay Mom?

"Yes baby... much better"

Then can we open a can of Tuna?

In the scheme of things, today was not a good day.
Even in the parking lot of somewhere I didn't want to be.

He gives his blessings...

I thank God for my faith.

More Hawaii

Here are a few more shots from Hawaii. From the ground.
I found the weather there to be absolutely delightful.
This was one of my favorite spots.

This guy hung out on the beach in front of the hotel

I got a picture of this one from the helicopter

The weather was amazing

I spent a long time at this spot listening to the waves and watching the birds.

No sooner has the weather cooled and I am thinking about the tropics.
These are pictures taken last January from a helicopter in Hawaii.
I never had so much fun in my life!

I would love to do it again.

Next time.

I would like to fly the helicopter.

Doubt they'll let me.

I love the way the sunset reflects on these trees.

Makes my little one acre wood
seem enchanted.
