I'm surprised that it has deteriorated so much in such a short time. At least 25 years ago I remarked to my mother that the car house my grandfather built in 1926 would probably blow over with the next big wind. It's still there today and every time I go down to the old place I expect to see it laying on the ground. Maybe it's just a testament to the superior work he did. I remember thinking as a child that it was a very old building and I turned 70 this year! I hope you show us some more photos of your road trip. There are a lot of things to see along the way in that distance! We find that there are lots of new and expensive houses on the same property with old barns and the barns are slowly returning to the earth. I've heard that it is far cheaper to let the barn deteriorate and fall in than even to take it apart - and of course it costs less than refurbishing. So sad to see them go.
