Invisable Kitty

Another hiding place for this silly cat!

It's about time I get some colored paint on the walls!!
I just can't decide what color.

Misty Mornings

This is what the sunrise looks like through my window these days.

Darn... I have to fill that bird feeder again!
Those sparrows are growing snouts.

Fall is in the Air

This was the commute this morning.

Life has been very demanding this week
I hope to get caught up with everyone this weekend.

Blessings

Amazing!!

I don't golf but over the past two weeks I have been helping my boss with the arrangements
for a charity golf outing that he chairs every year.
There is a lot of planning that goes into such an event.
Getting donations
Catering
Calling sponsors
Hole in one cars arranged
Prizes and games
Printing programs.
on and on and on.

Well, the forecast yesterday for this morning was Thunderstorms big time.
The radar showed a mess heading towards us.
We prayed!
Tee off was 8 AM... At 7:30 the sun peeked out.
Amazing!

Monday, September 16, 2013

I never tire of pointing my camera at the sky.

The clouds Saturday were amazing.
This is just off the walking path in my little subdivision.
I stepped back into the street to take the pic.
We have several little spring fed lakes that are very pretty.

Photo Challenge ~ Windows and Doors

I have tons of pretty cool window shots in my archives.
But, I thought in the spirit of the challenge I would get out and take some new shots, with the challenge in mind, and then try my hand at the digital dark room.
These were taken in a town just a bit north of me called Antioch.
(Except for the church)
(Please click on the pictures to see a much larger version)

I snapped and left... I did not go in!
Had I gone in I would have bought something REALLY bad.

I did what I could just messing around with exposure, contrast and highlights
to get the window come forward and still keep the reflections.
They tell a story.

I cropped this one a bit and fiddled with the color temp
What I like about this shot is the contrast between the door and the window.

This shot came out of the camera in pretty good shape
I lowered the highlights and sharpened a bit.
My favorite part of this shot is the little window with the address on it.
You have to click to enlarge it to see what I mean.

This one I cropped, sharpened and adjusted the color temp.
I have to sharpen because I am always in a hurry and shake the camera.

This one is a REJECT. I love the subject matter and the colors but no matter what I tried I could not get the window to look the way I wanted it to because of the white reflection.
It's just all cluttered with inside and outside stuff.

I used the photo editing software that comes with Windows Live Gallery in Windows 7
It works pretty good for an amateur like me.
BTW... all of these except the church door were taken with a polarizing filter.

A Ride

People in rural areas seem to have so much fun with so little.
They just enjoy simpler things.

Having come from a big city I am still unwinding
and these roadside treats always release some tension
on that spring!

How could anyone miss this little cafe' and bar?

Shelter

I have no desire for a big house.
I downsized greatly and love it.
But...
If I was in the market for a big house.
One like this would be it.

This is one of the lovely homes in my town of Grayslake.
Some are restored and some are in pretty rough shape.
It seems restoration is becoming more common.
Happy to see that.
Have a great day!

Delight

Imagine driving down the road and...

Can't help but love the sense of fun and humor behind this!

Sunflowers

Sunday I took a ride up to "you know where".
There were fluffy clouds and blue sky, in the 70's.
Glorious!!

I got some cool pictures that I'll post later.

This one was right outside my subdivision.
Less than a mile away.

Click on the pic

I'm gonna watch for the farmer that planted these and say "Thanks!"

The Glory of the Midwest

Late August on the Prairie

The morning mist is just starting to rise.
