Some time off...

I have been working my patuti off and finally have some time off

Went to Cincinnati for a birthday party and then...

Spent some time touring the lighthouses nearby.

Misty Morning

It's that time of year again.

Misty mornings.

Even the road construction couldn't foul my mood 

when I look at this.

And road construction there is. OMG!!

My little rural country roads are becoming 4 lanes.

Egad!

A long walk

We've had some serious rain the last couple of days

but this morning the sun came out.

I've been sick all summer (will spare you the details) and finally feeling better I headed for the trail around the lake.

I had a very nice walk about 2 miles.

As I post these shots I am noticing the absence of water foul.

Hmmm?

 A nice cool breezy morning!

You can see the ripples on the water.

It was so good to get out and moving again!

I don't normally post this many pictures but I've been away for awhile so I guess it's okay.

I love this spot for walking, there are several trails, none of which are too demanding.

The walk through the woods is very nice too.

The place is called Pistakee and is about 10 min from where I live.

I visit often.

All of these forest preserves were planned way back in 1909 when Daniel Burnham was planning the parks and improvements of Chicago.

It was called the Burnham plan.

Land acquisition for conservation of prairie, forest and wildlife started back then and has continued to this day.

It's hot!

This has been a rather cool and rainy summer

Until now...

This past week the temps have been seriously hot

and of course complimented with high humidity

I do not do well in the heat but I had to get out

Needless to say it was not a long walk

Is that a little bit of red on that Maple?

Good Grief!

Summer is almost over... heavy sigh...

I finally got out this summer and took a drive up to Wisconsin

There are miles and miles of rustic roads

Such a big beautiful barn on a stunning piece of property

I wonder why they didn't save it.

These people are not poor. 

There is a beautiful house next to this barn.
