I love the lacy shadow from these flowers.

These are the only flowers left. The rotten rabbits ate the rest.

I'm just loving the shapes in here.

I saw there was a very big bird in the tree, brought out my all but forgotten zoom lens and found it was not the bird, but the shapes I wanted to make the subject.

I rarely do much in the way of photo editing but this one needed an effect.

The weather in Hartford CT was beautiful! I didn't get out much but when I did it was very nice. Getting off the plane at O'Hare I got hit with a gust of hot humid air, Yuck. This has been an awful summer! At least we got some rain. A storm knocked down my Serengeti tree.

A Lighthouse

One of my favorite day trips is the Wind Point Lighthouse near Racine Wisconsin. This lovely and uncrowded spot actually houses the Wind Point Police Station.

I took these this past spring.

What's nice here is that there are flowers and vegetation right on the beach.

It's a really nice drive up Rt 45 and then over to Wind Point. Also nice if there is a lakefront craft fair in Racine  just a few miles away.

I have some totally cool winter pictures of this spot I will post at another time.

Well, Im off to Hartford (Farmington) CT for a short business trip tomorrow.

Storms

We got a little relief last night. The lightning show was intense and amazing. Unfortunately I could not get any shots. Driving rain and wind kept me on the other side of the window.

It will take a lot more to put a dent in the damage from this drought.

I even started putting a little bowl of fresh water out each day for the rotten rabbits

that ate all of my flowers!

Figured they might need something to wash down the Petunia's.

A solution?

Taking my little friend for a ride in the car around the subdivision is something we do most Sundays.
She will sit by the garage door and ask for her ride. (its gated and we go 5 mph so there is no danger for her out of the carrier)
She gets on the front and back dash, sits on the passenger seat and has a favorite spot to watch geese.

Now, I have a new car and I'm worried that when she tries to get on the front dash she will not have enough leverage and will scratch the leather with her back claws. I feel so selfish! I have not taken her for a ride since I got the car.

I need to figure out how to protect the dash so my sweet pea can have her treat! Maybe duck tape?

My Carbon Footprint

As I cleaned my house last weekend I realized just how much stuff I was throwing away. Paper of all kinds, tissue, old mail, junk mail cardboard boxes from all the stuff I buy online. Plastic bottles from detergent, bleach and water.

Now I don't generally get on a soapbox about anything but I am angry with myself.

My carbon footprint has turned into a size huge.
I found myself driving my car with the sun roof open and the air on!
Is tree hugging republican an oxymoron?

Anyway, I'm going to go buy a water filter and be more diligent about recycling!

Everything is still pretty brown and raw looking but we got a decent amount of rain yesterday.

It's amazing... Not more than three drops of rain in weeks and weeks and there is a whole field of these blooming nearby.
