A Ramble

There is an abundance of rustic roads
in Wisconsin

I am about 20 minutes from the border
so I ramble up there often

The scenery changes immediately as
soon as you cross the border

That's not to say that my little corner of
Illinois isn't beautiful, it is

There is just much less development in Wisconsin

and the people are a bit quirky with
a joyful sense of humor

I love it!

Summer

This is the beautiful grove where I held our Picnic

Unfortunately it was cold cold cold... Brrrrrr!!
65 deg

You can see one little patch of blue in the distance.
We were wearing sweatshirts with hoods.

Not to say we didn't have a good time but...
Where is Summer?

Hello

Hello

I've been out of touch all week due to entertaining
business associates from out of town.

15 people, 4 days, day and night. I am fried!
I'll be hosting a picnic tomorrow and Sunday I sleep.
The high temperature tomorrow is supposed to be 69 deg.
I thought I would be safe planning a picnic the last week of July
Good Grief

Anyway, I thought I'd post a picture of her majesty and let you know I will be back next week.

Natures Way

I took this picture
a couple of years ago.
The Barn is on one of Wisconsin's Rustic Roads.

A couple of weeks ago I was up there again.

Looks like Mother Nature is taking her space back.

Slowly but surely, nail by nail board by board.

Note Card Party ~ Turns

These birds are somewhat comical but the soft colors in these
shots make me think they would make nice note cards

Have a Seat

I went to the post office I downtown Lake Bluff IL Friday
and this was the scene in front of City Hall.

It appears there was a chair painting contest.
What Fun!

This is a small Lakefront community
that is so beautiful.
The houses are very classic cottage style homes
of every shape and size.

Photo Challange ~ Birds

Here are a couple of examples of what not to do
when taking photos of birds.

Although this one turned out very pretty
It was not the intended result.
Sometimes good things just happen.

This shot was taken with my IPhone with the zoom full blast.
Is it any wonder it turned out blurry?
But... I like the watercolor look!

This bird perched on a tree in back of my house
and I grabbed my 70 x 300 lens, zoom full blast
no tripod.

Not as blurry but definitely not as crisp as I would like.

Lesson learned: Full blast is a no-no.
Tripod a must!

P.S. I was finally able to access my blog through Internet Explorer.
Google Chrome won't let me in, more about that journey in a later post.

History

Look at the detail in this old place!

I drive by here frequently and wonder about its history.
There are renters living there so I can't just camp out front
and take pictures.
This was taken from the driveway next door to a small strip mall.
The property is for sale and zoned commercial
so the house is gonna go.
Too bad.

A corn update

They say knee high by the 4th of July
and the sweet corn is waist high.
This is the feed corn out my back window.
Pretty much the proper height.

I used my super power make it all bigger and closer lens
I really need to practice with that thing.
