Movement

Holy Cow!! I almost missed the Challenge this month.
I was totally unmotivated.
I didn't even think of water until I started looking at all your wonderful contributions!
So I dug into the archives and here is some of my favorite movement.

Seaside, Palm Beach Florida

Lake Michigan in early winter.
If you look closely you can see a glimpse of the Chicago skyline in the distance.

Lake Michigan again

A Personal Photo Challenge

  1. I'm so glad that you got inspired, Jeanne, and joined in this month! I was hoping that you would because you always post beautifully composed photos. And YES, these water images sure do show movement. The first one emphasizes different layers and textures as the water moves to shore. The other two highlight a diagonal composition that is always pleasing to the eyes. I enlarged the second one and did spot the Chicago skyline way, way in the back! And my favorite is the last one with the suspended water droplets, millions of them, bursting into a moment of time.

  2. P.S. And I inspired you to explore f-stops? Oh, you just made my day with that compliment! I am always thrilled to hear feedback that I provided some inspiration to step out of their comfort zone and be brave enough to learn something new. Your photographic world changes significantly (and for the better!) when you realize that you can control depth of field with aperture settings.

  3. Love the photos of what I thought was the ocean. Makes me realize how big the Great Lakes must be. I love to look at the surf crashing on the shore. Great shots!

  4. Beautiful ocean waves would be my favorite! These are all great examples of movement. I can just hear the waves crashing in! Hugs!

  5. You did a great job capturing the waves in action. All three photos give me the sense of movement in the water. Good job!

  9. The movement of water can be quite amazing. It can trickle gently along a stream or rage on the high seas causing havoc. I love these pics Jeanne, the Florida water certainly looks warmer than Lake Michigan, but both are wonderful and make me want to dip my toes, just my toes!!!

  11. Stunning photos - I've always had such fond memories of Lake Michigan from when we lived in Wisconsin when our kids were very young. We loved to go down to the lake in the summer to cool off.
