Can someone identify this bird for me?
I'm not a birder and do not recall seeing these guys before.
They swooped down in mass and snacked at the feeder,
drank from the puddle, and were gone.
a pretty good sized flock of them, I am guessing migration.
They completely took over.
And who's baby is this??
How could this little ball of fuzz keep up with a migrating flock or,
am I mistaking a sparrow baby as one of theirs?
Curious.
brown-headed cowbirds, i believe. the females are the grayer/browner versions whereas the males have the dark bodies with brown heads. :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like you got your answer. : )
ReplyDeleteYou got some great shots of them.
Not sure what kind they are, but they sure are adorable!
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with Theresa ... they are definately Cow birds. The first one may be a juvenile because he seems lighter than the females and the one little "baby" I believe is a house sparrow. For a non-birder, you capture some really cute pictures. You may become a birder yet :)

Lovely series, pretty little bird (I've never seen such a bird in Germany)... - it's so funny to see, like birds take a bath!
