Once Upon A Time ~ Good Fences

I took this on the fly with my cell phone on the way to work.
I have always wondered when I drive by just where the house would have stood.

The barn was in really bad shape when I came to this neighborhood and has since been torn down.
The house was gone before me.

I think that kind of fence means livestock.
Curious...

  2. There is a sadness to the picture and to your words ... somebody's past has been wiped away with only a rusty old gate to speak for their lives and experiences. Time does just go on, doesn't it. This is a beutiful shot though and good for you for even wondering and caring. I haven't heard from you and was just wondering what you were up to when I spotted you on "Good Fences" ... Hope all is well ...

  4. It's a really lovely photo. Sad about the barn but there seems to be some kind of a crop growing there. Is there a house anywhere near by?

  5. Yeah, you wonder what was there before and why the land is idle today!! Is that corn growing or just tall weeds?

  6. It does make you wonder about these old homesteads. Sometimes you see shrubs are flowers blooming and that gives you an idea of where the house was. Beautiful photo my friend! Hugs!

  10. I contemplate the old homesteads too. So much history passes by and not captured. Love this photo with the lovely side lighting.

  13. Beautiful scene. I sometimes wonder where the house was located too. You can tell by the big empty spot among the trees.
