Wow, what lovely shots of beautiful Marco beach, JT. Its a shame its so packed with hotels now.
In 1953, my family and I would go to Marco Island when nothing else was there but empty beach for as far as the eye could see. We would swim in the gulf and sift through mounds of beautiful shells, and not see another person all day long.
It is definately packed with hotels now. It appears they tried to preserve a few feet of sea grass and vegatation but the shelling is rather poor. I liked it very much compared to St Pete beach. I would loved to have seen this beach and a few other places in Florida before they were so overbuilt. This was my first trip to the Gulf coast and I was truly surprised at how heavily built up everything is. Nothing is preserved that I can see.
