Animals ~ Photo Challenge

I been off the grid for a bit but I couldn't miss this Challenge!

This little fellow decided to nap on the beach one morning in Kauai
I had to crop this quite a bit and I enhanced the contrast and shadows a bit.

Now this little lady resides in Richmond IL in a shop that is nestled among the antique shops.
This store is dedicated to all things kitty from comfort to nutrition.
I was buying my Abby a basket and the resident kitty had to make sure it was cat worthy.
The other two are very engaged in what their mom was doing in the other room.
I cropped and adjusted the highlights to bring in a bit more outside light.
Then I sharpened to get that little pretty's whiskers to shine.

And finally my precious Abby.
This was taken with a macro lens and cropped just a bit.
I used the manual focus because auto focus with a macro this close just doesn't do it.
I wanted to get that little black nose.
I got lucky with the exposure so left it alone.

  1. so very cute. all the way through...

  2. Thank you so much for joining in this challenge, Jeanne! These are all lovely. That sea lion sure is a lazy beach bum, huh? The kitty in the basket is a fun shot. And the last photo is my favorite! What a perfect, up-close portrait of contentment. Yes, it is much better to go with manual focus for close-up and macro shots to make sure that you get exactly what you need in focus. And that nose is nice and sharp! Terrific job on it!

I hope you have fun going around and seeing all of the variety that the participants have presented. {{{hugs}}} to you, sweet friend!

  3. What sweet faces! I never know when to quit with the cropping. Okay, I'll switch back to manual macro and see if it helps.

  4. Now, that first one...not something you see everyday...or at least, I don't! Great photo! The kitties are just precious too...all of them are beautiful :)

  5. I love the first one of the beach and the sea lion. Very cool. Also I'm ready for a trip to Kauai.

  6. Yes Jeanne, I've missed you and am so happy to see you here today. Your pics are great - having seen many sea lions, seals etc. around the globe I know only too well how they love to hang out, grunting and rather smelly of course! But at least they remain still long enough for us to get good pics.

The cats in the shop are great - I always love unexpected back views….of animals people, anything!
Your lovely soft grey (you know I'm a grey freak!) Abby cat I would steal and bring home in a heartbeat, haha!

Glad you came back for the challenge.
    Hugs - Mary

  7. Three very adorable photos Jeanne, and your Abby is a real cutie.

  8. Cute photos and I really like the cat basket which could be used for anything.

  9. I'm so glad you joined the challenge. You definitely have a knack at getting close ups my friend! That last photo looks like I could reach out and pet Abby! Beautiful! Sweet hugs, Diane

  10. The sea lion doesn't look too little to me Jeanne!!!
Your Abby is so sweet and your picked the purrfect basket for her to snuggle in to - colour co-ordinated very well too!
Lovely to catch up with you here dear Jeanne.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
