Moonlight

You all know I love pointing my lens at the sky.

I've been fooling around with a nice macro lens I have in my bag, teaching myself how to focus it properly. I don't think this lens was designed for landscape or sky shots but then, I never did follow the rules. 

The colors here are pretty spot on to what I saw with my eyes.

Anyway, I thinks it's pretty.

Cloudy and windy today. 

I need to get off my dupah and pull some weeds.

Wet

We have had a very cool dry summer so far.

So far!

It now feels like southern Florida!

Hot and extremely humid with buckets of rain.

Weeds have grown overnight and are taking over.

Cloudy gloomy and wet wet wet. 

The good news is that it will cool off this weekend for the Holiday.

I will be pulling weeds.

Also planning a nice BBQ with sister and her man.

As usual I snapped this with the lens full out, no planning, 

no tripod etc.

Fly by the seat of my pants!!

Well... You have to catch these shots when you can.

This is when I wish I had more time and patience for photo editing.

I love this bird.

He or she is keeping the varmint population down. 

Although, Abby told me we have a mouse behind the stove.

I have a live trap set with peanut butter.

Missing everyone, will catch up later on my IPad.

Drizzle Drizzle Drizzle

We really needed this rain!

Just when I start to get back in a groove I discover my zoom lens is kaput.

Some of you will remember when the camera was dropped and the lens was smashed.

I bought a used one from a reputable dealer and it worked fine 

but now it simply will not meter.

The other lenses work so I know it's not the camera. 

I will have to rely on my Macro and 50mm for a bit. 

I think I will upgrade the zoom. 

Any suggestions for a Canon zoom lens?

Animals ~ Photo Challenge

I been off the grid for a bit but I couldn't miss this Challenge!

This little fellow decided to nap on the beach one morning in Kauai

I had to crop this quite a bit and I enhanced the contrast and shadows a bit.

Now this little lady resides in Richmond IL in a shop that is nestled among the antique shops.

This store is dedicated to all things kitty from comfort to nutrition.

I was buying my Abby a basket and the resident kitty had to make sure it was cat worthy.

The other two are very engaged in what their mom was doing in the other room.

I cropped and adjusted the highlights to bring in a bit more outside light.

Then I sharpened to get that little pretty's whiskers to shine. 

And finally my precious Abby.

This was taken with a macro lens and cropped just a bit. 

I used the manual focus because auto focus with a macro this close just doesn't do it. 

I wanted to get that little black nose. 

I got lucky with the exposure so left it alone.

Hi ya'll

I have gotten so out of the blogging habit that I find it difficult to get started again. 

Maybe because I haven't been on day trip with the camera for a while or my heart just wasn't in it. 

Don't know what to post etc. 

So... I'll talk about the weather.

It has been glorious this past week although those who like the beaches and pool would disagree with me.

Mid 70's in the day and very cool at night. I love it!

Just when we need rain, we get it, which makes everything lush and green and that is unusual for mid July. 

I have been spending a lot of time outside

uh... pulling weeds!

A side effect of the abundant rain.

Needless to say the mosquitoes are well fed.

Summer

I had time to take a walk on the Rollins Savannah over the weekend

The weather was beautiful.

I love summer wildflowers.

Lillian Mae 1923-2014

Mom passed away peacefully in our arms yesterday.

This is her at her 90th birthday party last December with her best friend.
