Black and White

This was taken on Duval Street in Key West

Taken with a Canon Rebel XS on automatic
I tweaked the contrast and highlights for B&W drama

This is the raw original. I like the B&W better.

  1. I Really need to learn how to shoot in RAW...They say you can do so much more with a photo if you do...
    Love the shot!
    Happy Weekend!

    1. Thank you but when I say Raw I may be using the wrong terminology. Raw out of the camera is what I mean. But now that I looked it up I will try it.

  2. That's a great example of an image that is improved with B&W. The texture comes out and it now has a vintage feel! Wonderful job.

I've been shooting the RAW format for about 3 years now. It's more work to process, but there is a ton of additional digital information that is available for editing!

  6. I'd have to agree that the black and white makes a stronger statement. The doors have lots of character and texture. I'm learning that that makes for a successful black and white.

  8. Great composition, bet Key West is a haven for great photo ops. Love the pure b/w here....the other one is also interesting though.

  9. The original is a nice shot but I agree I like the black and white better too. It looks more dramatic

  11. I think both ways work for this shot. In the color, my eyes are drawn to the portrait, it pops, and in the BW, the portrait adds interest to the wood doors...great post!
